Dear Campus Ventures/FCD Partner,
“ So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isa. 41:10
In light of recent developments with the coronavirus (COVID-19) we want to care for our staff and students in all respects, including the physical & emotional well-being of everyone involved. Many local governments are attempting to restrict large gatherings, and schools in our ministry areas are choosing to move classes to an online format in an attempt to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
As followers of Jesus, we have every reason to hope and have joy in our hearts because our eternity is based on who God is and the promises we have from Him about our future. However, many in this world do not have this confidence, and as His servants we have a unique opportunity to “ shine like stars in the universe as [we] hold out the word of life…” (Ph. 2:15-16).
We believe that being present on campus is very important at this time, and we are doing our best to communicate with college administration, healthcare providers and local staff teams to determine what our best course of action will be in order to minister to students during this crisis. Campus teams may need to limit meeting in large groups, but we will continue to be available to help students glorify God through knowing and loving Him, and leading others to be devoted disciple-makers for Jesus Christ. We know this is totally dependent on God working through believers to reach and disciple new followers of Christ regardless of size and scale. We also want to support the administrations of our colleges in all they are attempting to do in light of this virus.
At this time, we know of no one within our network that has contracted the coronavirus, and there are less than 20 reported cases total within the states we have ministries, but this is a very fluid situation with things changing daily. We are working to be prepared, and we also want to maintain a godly perspective responding in faith with the best information available, “ for God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline” (2 Tim. 1:7). We are praying that this season will bring potential to open doors for the gospel, as people are faced with the brevity of life and reality of death. Above all, we want to bring honor and glory to our heavenly Father.
We are still hoping to send out students for summer projects, but will not make a final decision on this until the second half of April. Join us in praying about this, as well as:
● Students being more open to the truth of the Gospel than ever.
● Boldness in faith as our staff walk in step with the Spirit and get into spiritual conversations leading to the Gospel (Eph. 6:19-20).
● Wisdom for the current situation as it unfolds and we respond in faith to the unknown and unfamiliar territory we are walking through (2 Chron. 1:10).
Thank you all for your prayerful support of our Campus Ventures staff! We are glad for your partnership in fulfilling the Great Commission on the college campuses in our region.
In His service,
Did you know that just 1-2% of the world’s entire population is in enrolled in college and universities right now? While that may sound small (and it is), this 1-2% will go on to leadership positions in government, business, medicine, science and education.
FCD/Campus Ventures is positioned on campuses in Wyoming and South Dakota. It is our passion to raise up the next generation of Christian makers of disciple makers who will have an impact in government, business, medicine, science, and education, as well as missionaries and church lay leaders.
